Art Classes




Open Hands offers at home, Personal art Instruction through its Pioneer Pro classes program.  Classes can be purchased as follows-   
1 hour of Art Instruction-$35.00
1-half an hour of Art Instruction is $20.00 (note: must purchase at least 1 hour class.  Half an hour classes are not available singularly.)  (note: Pioneer Pro is currently only available for the Philadelphia Pa. and Delaware Valley areas)

For groups of 4 or more students, special Discounted rates apply.

1-hour of Art Instruction is $25.00 per student, (a $10.00 savings per student)
  

Pioneer Pro's courses are as follows

2D animation
Learn 2D animation, from it's traditional form, to web based.

Stop Motion Animation *
This class teaches students how to animate objects in the real world, from a cup of tea to the friend next door. 

Claymation
Learn everything you need to know about claymation, from designing sets to making pigs fly.

Video and film Compositing/Video effects/bluescreening*
In this class students learn how to bring all their collective scenes and effects into one sensible cohesive movie.

Storyboarding 
Any great script needs an even greater storyboard, this class gives students the
skills they need to properly interpret any story visually.

Character Development
Understand the art of creating and developing various characters from scratch.

Story Development
Learn how stories grow and take shape as well as the valuable tools you need to
make this happen.

Outlining
Every story needs a sensible outline, this class teaches students the various ways
an outline is created.

Creating a book or comic book
Learn what it takes to create an attractive book or comic book that will wow readers.

Basics of drawing
In this class students learn the various elementary rules of art and drawing 
essential to artists around the world.

Drawing from observation
This class teaches students the skills needed to depict any scene with near 
flawlessness, step by step.

Drawing from graphed images and photos
Sharpen your artistic eye with this class as you learn how to copy and 
reproduce images line for line.

Drawing in 3 dimensions and Shading
Essential for almost every art style used,this class teaches students how to see  
and visualize in 3 dimensions. 

Color and Color application
Students in this class learn the ever important rules of color, as well as how 
it should properly be applied.

Penciling  ( includes optional tortillion training )
This class teaches the various techniques of penciling, from sketching
to full on shading.

Inking
Learn inking techniques of various forms, as well as proper application.

Color pencil/ charcoal*
Learn how to draw in depth professionally in Color pencil and Charcoal.

Training in digital art programs* 
Learn how to operate and master digital art software like the pros.

Mixing music for film and animation
From start to finish this class trains students in the art of music and video
incorporation.

Creating Websites, Blogs and banners
This class gives students the tools they need to create small or professional
blogs and websites.

Publishing works
Learn what it takes to bring your book or project to a worldwide audience sooner
than you think.

    ( Basic materials are supplied )

      The Pioneer Pro program trains students ages 8 and up. We ask that students be prepared for their
      lesson upon arrival of instructor.

      Here are some of the ways students can prepare for their class

      1. Prepare clean working area free from distractions for both student and instructor.

      2. Have art supplies specific to class ready and available ( basic supplies such as pencils and basic drawing paper provided by instructor ).

      3. Ensure allotted time per lesson can proceed interruption free, as Open Hands instructors are not responsible for any interruption that occurs during a lesson, ( this does not include an interruption caused by the instructor by fault of their own ).

      Minimum PC and Mac requirements are as follows

      Mac computer with Operating System dated year 2000 or later, at least 1GB of ram

      PC running Windows XP or later, at least 1GB of ram

      Materials: 


      Stop Motion animation- digital camera/camcorder with Single Shot capability, computer compatible.

      Claymation- digital camera/camcorder with Single Shot capability, computer compatible.
      Non-Hardening clay or Plasticine. 

      Video and film Compositing/Video effects/bluescreening- digital camera that is computer
      compatible

      Color pencil/ charcoal- Charcoal paper,rough Bristol paper,(not smooth)charcoal sticks, (color pencils are supplied but can be purchased).
